Qatar vs Ecuador Match Preview

The controversial Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup kicks off this Sunday after 12 years in the making, with the Arabian nation having been awarded the rights in 2010.

Qatar is a small country that would hardly have qualified for this competition if they weren’t the hosts and it is clear to see that they might struggle to get out of their group.

They are facing an Ecuador side that did well in the South American qualifying group to finish ahead of Chile and Colombia and that will make this game an interesting one.

The hosts have been preparing well for this competition and won their last four matches before this fixture, a run of form that will fill them with confidence when they step on the pitch in this game.

Ecuador has not done badly themselves and remains unbeaten in their last five matches, although they have only won one of them, keeping clean sheets in all.

Their goalkeeper, Alexander Domínguez heads into this fixture on the back of six consecutive clean sheets and he will look to inspire his team to get the points on this opening night at the 2022 World Cup.
